This guide will walk you through the installation process for the trial of SteadyPoint Helpdesk. Once you have downloaded the required files, you can begin this process.

1. The Helpdesk installer will come in the form of a rar file. Extract it (or just open it) and start the launcher. 

2. Press Next to start the installation process

3. Press Next again to confirm. The installation should now start

You may get a pop-up from Windows asking you to confirm the installation, press Yes to allow it to continue. 

4. When the process is complete, press Close

The SteadyPoint Helpdesk installer should automatically open. If a windows menu pops up asking you to allow the app to make changes, press Yes. This step allows our Helpdesk installer to work. 

Installing on a new SharePoint Site

Select “New SharePoint site” to create a new Sharepoint website

Click Next to proceed

  1. You will be asked to input the Name of the new website as well as a URL. The name is just a display name, so there’s no problem if you’re using a pre-existing name.
  2. The URL of the new site that you enter must be unique.
  3. By switching Site language, you can install one of 8 versions of Helpdesk. Currently Helpdesk supports English, Arabic, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Dutch and Polish with more coming soon.
  4. You can also pick a Time zone for the site.
  5. The Username used to install the Helpdesk trial must be that of an Office 365 SharePoint Admin account, otherwise this process cannot be completed. If you’re unsure whether you have Admin rights, refer to this section. If you don’t have Admin rights, you must ask your SharePoint administrator to either grant you this permission or to complete the process themselves.
  6. Once you’re done, press next to Next the Helpdesk installation.

Installing on an existing SharePoint site

Select “Existing Sharepoint site” If you have a pre-existing sharepoint website that you don’t mind installing Helpdesk add-in on.

Click Next to proceed

  1. Input the URL of the pre-existing Sharepoint site you intended to use.
  2. You can choose the language of Helpdesk by installing one of 8 versions of Helpdesk. Currently Helpdesk supports English, Arabic, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Dutch and Polish with more coming soon.
  3. Enter the Username of an Office 365 SharePoint Admin account and the password. As mentioned in the previous section, the account must be a SharePoint Admin account otherwise this process cannot be completed. If you’re unsure whether you have Admin rights, refer to this section. If you don’t have Admin rights, you must ask your SharePoint administrator to either grant you this permission or to complete the process themselves.
  4. Once you’re done, press Next to start the Helpdesk installation

Installation and Deployment

1. The process should take 5-10 minutes depending on tenant speed and your internet connection. 

2. When the installation is finished, a new screen will pop up asking you to “Trust” Helpdesk. This step must be complete to allow the deployment to be finished.

3. You will be taken to a web page in Sharepoint asking you trust the app, press Trust It to finish the installation process.

4. Helpdesk should now launch desktop and a shortcut is created to allow for easy access.
